Crafting Stories with Heart, Precision, and Purpose
Hello! I'm Stephanie Marrie, a dedicated editor with six years of experience across every stage of the editorial process, from developmental editing to proofreading. My passion lies in helping authors refine their unique voices and craft compelling stories, particularly in romance and women’s fiction. With over 32 books edited, including cherished titles such as Animal Attraction by Kathryn Halberg and The Things We Keep by Julee Balko, I’m committed to providing you with thoughtful, honest feedback and editing support that brings out the best in your work.

I bring emotional intelligence, problem-solving, and meticulous time management to every project I work on. My experience spans roles with reputable publishing houses, including Penguin Random House and Sourcebooks, as well as dedicated work with indie authors. I focus on everything from enhancing your story’s depth to fine-tuning the technical aspects like spelling, grammar, and consistency.

My journey as an editor has been supported by mentorships at Tessera Editorial and Representation Matters, where I learned from industry professionals with a focus on inclusivity and diversity in storytelling. I also bring experience from internships with Cozy Cat Press and Tule Publishing, where I honed my skills in evaluating manuscripts and writing editorial feedback. These roles taught me to appreciate every step of the publishing process.

Here's How I'll Nurture Your Story
Professionalism
I understand the value of your time and the importance of deadlines. My process is organized, efficient, and timely, to make sure you can move forward with your story’s next steps without delay.
Empowerment
I strive to uplift authors, helping you find confidence in your voice and vision. My goal is to provide guidance and feedback that inspires you to create the best version of your story.
Love
I recognize that the heart of your story is love—whether romantic, platonic, or self-love. I bring a passion for these themes to every manuscript, working with you to create heartfelt and compelling narratives.
Inclusion
Love stories are as diverse as the people who write them. I celebrate the diversity of experiences, cultures, and identities that enrich these genres, and work to ensure your narrative reflects the depth and authenticity it deserves. I am also committed to creating a respectful space for fellow BIPOC authors to share their stories.
